Definition
gastrointestinal (GI) system, consists of a
digestive tube called the GI tract or alimentary
canal, and several accessory organs whose
primary function is to break down food, prepare
it for absorption, and eliminate waste.

of the intestines; mechanical or paralytic

segment of bowel collapses into the opening of another
