Plains
• Plains are flat areas, in which there are almost no elevations. How are plains
formed?
• When wind and river carry sediments to the coast.
• Where Puerto Rico´s coastal plains found?
• To the north and south of the islands central mountain range.
• Why most of Puerto Rico´s population is concentrated (live) in the plains?
• No elevation and land is very fertile.
• The Southern coastal plains is not at large as the northern plains.
What else do they have less than the northern coastal plains?
• Less water reaches the southern coastal plains because rainfall is less
abundant than in the northern coastal plains.
• Why are there fewer beaches in the western coastal plains?
• Because the rocky coast often cuts straight into the sea.
• What do both the eastern and western coastal plain have in
common?
• Both regions have beautiful beaches.
