I. formal region- govt. boundaries
II. Functional region- area defined by function.
III. Vernacular region- more general term of
region, example North or South.
• Without looking over your notes can you name
the five themes of geography?
• Which type of region is most commonly used by
people?
• Which type of location is more general? Which
type of location is more specific?
• Give me a specific example of human and
physical characteristics for Place.
• Homework: quiz next Wednesday about
scientific revolution material.
What is the enlightenment?
• Time period during the 18th century that
applied reason as the legitimate source of
authority.
What is Divine Right?
• Kings and Queens or people in power for
centuries before the enlightenment were
put into their powerful positions by God.
• It was because God said so.
