1. Location
Location: where something is
There are two types
of location:
Absolute Location
A. Absolute location – the EXACT spot
where a place can be found.
Examples:
1901 Creekside Dr.
38 degrees south, 145 degrees west.
Relative Location
B. Relative location: the location of
one spot compared to another.
Examples:
Crownover MS is close to Hawk
Elementary.
Texas is south of Oklahoma.
2. Place
What a location is like.
Natural: Its climate, landforms, plant
and animal life.
Human: cities and towns,
governments, cultural traditions.
Place
Example:
Denton, Texas has a temperate
climate, with grasslands and wildlife.
It has a human population of about
120,000.
3. Region
Places are grouped into regions. A
region has places that all have
something in common.
Example:
Countries that speak French
Rocky Mountains
French speaking regions
4. Movement
People, goods, and ideas can move
from one place to another.
How does Movement Affect Me?
Look at a tag in your neighbor’s shirt.
Where are all these products made?
Where are they sold?

to move from one area to settle
in another

Interaction
Humans depend on, adapt to, and
change the world around them.
It can be helpful or harmful.
