Case Study
• To compare the cost of the copper and fiber
based access network.
• A 2400 unit green field township is selected
for the exercise.

Assumptions:
1- 2400 user.
2- Fully loaded system from day one.
3- Common costs are not included (Duct).
4- Physical for ATM & IP is based on blown fiber.
5- Triple play services to all customers.

Conclusions
• Based on the current prices IP fiber based
solution is nearly the same as ADSL copper.
• Un like ATM & ADSL, IP prices tendency
to go down by higher margin.
• IP is the future technology providing cost
effective and flexible network.
Development Activities
• ATM fiber based solution trial currently
under review.
• Triple play IP fiber based solution on MPLS
demo currently in progress.
• Blown fiber technology trial completed
successfully.
