ViconNet Software
Core of your
surveillance system,
connecting and
integrating the
hardware of your
choice.
Distributed server
architecture optimizes
network bandwidth by
allowing recording
servers to be located
where the cameras are
actually connected.
Offered as stand-alone
software for use with
Standard workstations or
configured and tested on
servers directly at the
factory.
No limits to how many recording servers
can be connected to a customer

ONVIF Standard for CCTV
• A standard for CCTV device communication published by a
consortium of manufacturers
• Defines the protocol used to communicate with the camera
• “The Peclo-D of the IP world…”
• Does not dictate feature and function
16
• Allows a truly open system to exist
• Allows simple and quick integration to become reality
• Offers flexibility to owners
• Adoption by manufacturers takes time…
• The protocol provides multiple options that lead to
incompatibilities
• Sections of the protocol are still being refined
Virtual Matrix
• For Enterprise Level Command Centers
o
Virtual Matrix Switching
• PLC/Keypad/Joystick Control with Banks of Monitors
Virtual Matrix Controller
 Supports extensive command and control centers with
large, widescreen, HD monitors.

Virtual Matrix Controller
 One VMDC can support:
Up to 6 monitors
Up to 150 concurrent
video streams
Up to 4 keypads
X 150

Maximum number of video
streams will vary depending
on video resolutions,
frame rates and compression
formats.
Virtual Matrix Controller
 Multiple VMDCs networked together can support:
Just about any size installation
and any configuration!
Virtual Matrix Controller
 Local and remote control can be shared by multiple
operators
Virtual Matrix Controller
 Graphically represents the layout of customized monitor
displays
• We have witnessed dramatic growth in video data:
o Mega-Pixel cameras for the price of D1
o High FPS
o New compression algorithm (H.264)
• An expectation to display more cameras per monitor
• Existing decoding becomes much more processor
intensive
• Embedded decoders are no longer strong enough
• We are going back to the PC for More Horse power
25
• Newest Generation of IP Video Systems Presents New
Challenges:
o Systems are entirely IP
o They include megapixel cameras with significantly higher picture
resolution
o Ease of connectivity is facilitating more cameras-per-system
Need for More Resources!
• Multiple parameters need to be taken under consideration:
o What type cameras are used? Standard or High Definition
o Compression used (today safe to assume H.264)
o What frame rate is being displayed?
o How many monitors are being used for display?
o How many cameras are expected to be shown on each monitor
• The more complex the display pattern is, the more these
parameters need to be taken into consideration
• The flexibility of VMDC allows adding more decoders
controlled by the main system
• Vicon Mobile
• Server side includes transcoding – requires
stronger machines to support multi
streaming.
• Covers iPad, iPhone, Android phones and
tablets
• Schedule – Support for all platforms –
release expected in April 2013
• The nature of the mobile devices requires:
o JPEG transmission for multiple picture
o Parallel processing for multiple devices
o Support of different rate communication (wireless and 3/4G)
o Access to playback from the same server / mobile
• This requires a scalable architecture
• As the technology and options keep progressing
• The installation and operation of the VMS becomes very
complex
• Main goal on the road map is to provide simpler tools for
the common tasks
• Simpler way to use and define recording on NVRs
• Meant to replace the need to create recording macros / schedules
• Macro will still be available for complex recording
• Allows 24/7 or motion based recording schemes
38
• Quick visual method to search through video
• Thumbnails spread evenly across the time
• User can narrow down or expand the search period
• Single click on thumbnail launches playback
• Video export available from interface
• Thumbnail search works on any connected camera
• ViconNet has its own user group and user list
• On systems running MS Active directory this requires maintaining a
redundant list
• Integrating with AD allows working with the same user / password lists as
the entire computer network
• Login authentication is done with the AD server so changes automatically
apply to ViconNet
• ViconNet permission are still managed in the VMS
• Different from masking in the camera
• Mask is created centrally in the VMS (on the Nucleus)
• Mask is projected in all ViconNet application (mobile in future)
• Authorized user can “Un-Mask” a live or playback image
• Un authorized user always see a masked image

• The classic integration for video is Access control
• ViconNet is now integrated with Software House
C-CURE9000
• Integration is written to provide video and control into
the C-CURE user interface
• Supported functionality:
o Display cameras within C-Cure user interface
o Control PTZ and presets online or by event
o Allow video pop-up on access event
o Allow access to playback from the event log
