3. FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
■ FTP is a well known protocol to move files between computers
over the Ethernets.

■ Some examples of the simplicity and advantages.
• Transfer files from 4020, store them on a PC as a Back up for
your messages
• Save configurations files and message files to upload this files
to other 4020 printers.
(Clone 4020 Controllers)
• The FTP server can be used by the administrator to load
Graphic files or jobs to the printer. It is not used for printing,
only for transferring files.

4. Active X
■ A library for programmers which make it very simple to create
customized windows applications. Gives full control of the printer.
• Together with ActiveX controls it gives professional and nice
looking customer applications.
• The API handles the communication with the printer. Open ports,
sends layouts, checks for status etc.

5. XCL commands
■ XCL is used to communicate with a printer or applicator.
This is done either via a serial port (RS232) or an Ethernet
connection.
XCL is a hierarchic command language with two different sets
of command structures; one structure for the information and
commands sent to the machine and one for the commands and
information sent from the machine.
■ Example of commands

Load and print the job Test

Send to variable 1, text apple
Imaje will provide a software component (ActiveX control) for easy
integration with customer applications with all XCL commands.
