Introduction :

5G technology going to be a new mobile revolution in
mobile market. Through 5G technology now you can use
worldwide cellular phones and this technology also strike
the china mobile market and a user being proficient to get
access to Germany phone as a local phone.
 5G technology has extraordinary data capabilities and has
ability to tie together unrestricted call volumes and infinite
data broadcast within latest mobile operating system. 5G
technology has a bright future because it can handle best
technologies and offer priceless handset to their customers.
Evolution from 1G to 5G
1G wireless system :
 Developed in 1980’s & completed in early 1990’s.
 Speed up to 2.4kbps.
 AMPS first launched by US & a 1G system
 Allow users to make voice calls in 1 country
2G wireless system :
 Fielded in the late 1980’s & finished in late 1990’s
 Speed up to 64kbps
 Digital handsets that are used today.
 Voice transmission with digital signal
Evolution from 1G to 5G
3G wireless system :
• Speeds from 125kbps – 2Mbps
• Performance in computer networking(WCDMA,WLAN
Bluetooth) & mobile devices area(cell phone & GPS)
• Data sent through packet switching technology
• Voice calls interpreted using circuit switching
• Access to Global Roaming & Clarity in voice calls
• Fast communication, Internet, mobile T.V,video
conferencing,video calls, (MMS),3D gaming etc
Evolution from 1G to 5G
4G wireless system :
 Conceptual framework & discussion point to address future
need of a high speed wireless network
 Both cellular & broadband multimedia services everywhere
 2010-2015 arrival
 Smooth global roaming ubiquitously with lower cost.
5G wireless system :
 Complete wireless communication with almost no limitation
 Multi media newspapers, watch T.V programs with the clarity
as to that of an HD T.V.
 Faster data transmission that of the previous generations
 Real world wireless or called “WWWW: world wide wireless
web.
2G Technology
 2G (or 2-G) is short for second-generation wireless telephone
technology. Second generation 2G cellular telecom networks
were commercially launched on the GSM standard. GSM
stands for global system for mobile communications.
 While radio signals on 1G networks are analog, radio signals
on 2G networks are digital.
 There are 3 different types of 2G mobile technologies based on
the system they are designed.
1. FDMA (2G Mobile Technology)
2.TDMA (2G Mobile Technology)
3.CDMA (2G Mobile Technology)
2G Technology
Capacity
Digital voice data can be compressed and multiplexed much more
effectively than analog voice encodings through the use of various codecs,
allowing more calls to be packed into the same amount of radio bandwidth.
 Disadvantage
In less populous areas, the weaker digital signal may not be sufficient to
reach a cell tower. This tends to be a particular problem on 2G systems
deployed on higher frequencies
 Advantages
2g technology advantages is that the digital signals require very little battery
power. Therefore it means that the mobile batteries can last longer. Digital
coding also reduces the noise in the line, thus improving the clarity of the
voice.
3G Technology
 3G (Thrid Generation Technology) technologies make use of value added
services like mobile television, GPS (global positioning system) and video
conferencing.
 The basic feature of 3G Technology (Thrid Generation Technology) is fast
data transfer rates.
 However this feature is not currently working properly because, ITU 200 is
still making decision to fix the data rates. It is expected that 2mbit/sec for
stationary users, while 348kbits when moving or traveling.
 3G Technologies
1.CDMA 2000
2.W-CDMA (UMTS)
3.TD-SCDMA

4G Technology
 4G Technology is basically the extension in the 3G technology with more

bandwidth and services offers in the 3G.
The expectation for the 4G technology is basically the high quality
audio/video streaming over end to end Internet Protocol.
The technologies that fall in the 4G categories are UMTS, OFDM, SDR,
TD-SCDMA, MIMO and WiMAX to the some extent.
Some of the companies trying 4G mobile communication at 100 Mbps for
mobile users and up to 1 Gbps over fixed stations.
Two technologies are supposed to be the features of 4G.
WiMAX
LTE
4G Technology
 WiMAX stands for Worldwide Interoperability of Microwave Access
previously worked as fixed wireless facility under the 802.16e band. Now
the modified standard 802.16m has been developed with the properties of
speed, wide spectrum, and increase band.
 LTE is compatible with 3G technology so it not only increases the speed but
also prevents the need of new network and can work through the same
infrastructure. LTE will not only support the functions of 3G but also
incorporate some newer ones. LTE is using MIMO (Multiple input multiple
output) able to send and receive huge data negative in the sense that it will
overload the base stations networks.
4G Technology
Advantages of 4G
 Higher bandwidth
 Better repsonstime. 10 times better then 3G
 Works at 2.6GHz frequency wich means better coverage even though it uses
the same tower where the receiver and transmitter for 3G is.
 Less time to buid 4G because it use the same tower and fibercables as 3Gs they only have to upgrade the towers with 4G components.
Disadvantage of 4G
 New technology wich makes it more expansive than 3G
4G Technology
Difference between 3G and 4G (3G Vs 4G):
 The amplest difference between 3G and 4G is the difference of
sophistication. Where 3G is loaded with technology caboodle multiple
wireless networking supports there 4G comes up with its own network
having a clear distinction of accessing internet for 24 Hours.
 The essence of 4G technology is its acceleration which differentiates it from
3G. 4G succeeds with the ratio of 2 : 20 :: uplink : downlink. It is 20 times
faster than 3G and surely a great attraction for the mobile user to upgrade.
5G technology
 5G: 5th Generation Mobile Technology to use cell phones within very high
bandwidth.
 Advanced features :powerful and in huge demand in future
 5G technology offers more power & features in hand held phone
 Large phone memory, dialing speed, clarity in audio and video etc
5G technology offers :
 worldwide cellular phones
 extraordinary data capabilities
 high connectivity
 Bright future
The concept
 5G terminals will have software defined radios
 New error control schemes
 Access to different wireless teachnologies
 Combine different flows from different technologies.
 Choice among different wireless / mobile access
 Network providers for a given service.
5G Technology
 Network Layer
The network layer will be IP (Internet Protocol), because there is no
competition today on this level. The IPv4 (version 4) is worldwide spread
and it has several problems such as limited address space and has no real
possibility for QoS support per flow. These issues are solved in IPv6, but
traded with significantly bigger packet header.
