Getting Personal

Personalisation
Personalisation: is the process of tailoring service to
individual users' characteristics or preferences.
Personalisation: is a means of meeting the customer's
needs more effectively and efficiently, making interactions
faster and easier.
Using Data: collected from a number of different sites,
which can result in the creation a personalised extensible
information index in real time, which is normalized and
correct.

Importance of Data
Data: is the single most important resource that the ICT
industry has – it is the biggest asset!!
• Legacy: In the past we have been able to get around the problem or ignore it
through the use of stove pipe data solutions based on individual products or system
stacks.
• Future requirement: This will not be viable now and in the future for the real time
nature and data dependency of new wave applications. A data solution that
supports multi-product bundled solutions is required.
• Unlock knowledge: Data needs to be personal, valid and available to a variety of
new applications that require real and non real-time access.
• Requirement: We will not be able to provide solutions required given the current
deployed data paradigm. This needs to change - there is not a single tool or
application that does what is needed.

Enterprise Personalisation
Integrated Personal Communications is Happening. As voice
services move to the Web and to IP, convergence is inevitable.
Consumers will want to create a “personal communications hub”.

Data Fusion
Data fusion: is generally defined as the use of techniques
that combine data from multiple sources.
• Gather that information in order to achieve inferences, which will be
more efficient and potentially more accurate than if they were
achieved by means of a single source.
• Data fusion is a low-level Fusion process. Fusion processes are
often categorised as low, intermediate or high, depending on the
processing stage at which fusion takes place.
• Low level Data fusion combines several sources of raw data to
produce new raw data. Fused data is more informative and synthetic
than the original inputs.
