
Computer-aided design (CAD)
 creation,
modification, analysis, or optimization of a
design.
 EDA, MDA/CAD
 How is it useful?
 CAD output
 CAD is used for?
 Different types of CAD tool
Why do we need mobile comm. In
Engineering Application?




Traditionally we don’t have a constraint with
transporting a SOFTWARE, which is different with
HARDWARES. Engineering applications are mostly
hardwares and the interactions with those.
When we want to transport a hardware with the
same speed as of softwares, we have to first
convert the hardwares to softwares.
That is done by the engineering applications and
the transporting is done by the mobile
communications inbuilt in these type of applications.

Example:
 Mechanical
and Architectural Design tool:
Autocad-360mobile, Grab Cad, eDrawing, Autodesk
Force Effect
 Electronics app: Circuit Lab, Electronics Toolbox.
 Team centre mobility for PLM
 ENOVIA® VPM On-The-Go
 3DEXPERINCE Platform


Autocad-360mobile:
 DWG
file
 Editing without Wi-Fi
 Mark up functionality
 GPS functionality
 Convert file format
 Sync with other app
 Cloud Storage


Circuit Lab
 Design
Circuit
 Mixed-mode circuit simulation (Analogue & Digital)
 In-browser simulation and plotting
 Human-friendly formats (input value)
 File format: vector PDF, PNG, EPS, SVG
 No Cloud services
App…


Team Centre Mobility
 AppShare
sessions & Real time
 View task-lists, workflows and attachments
 Review 2D & 3D information
 Submit Issue and Problem Reports
 Navigate and browse through product structures
 Download content to take with you when you need to
work offline
App…


ENOVIA® VPM On-The-Go
 Work
remotely without network access
 Protecting IP* and maintaining project data integrity
 Mobile employees who need to create, modify or
review data offline
 Collaborative experience are deactivated
 Propagation of Local Changes in the Enterprise
Environment
 Lower cost of ownership
 Ready to use PLM business processes
*Intellectual Property

 Cloud
Services & Own Premises
 Organize your data in multiple ways that best suits each
role or activity.
 Put day-to-day IP management in the hands of the users.
 Eliminate files based data exchange.
 Keep history of data access and downloads for critical IP.
 Track IP usage across various projects and customers

Cloud Computing
14

Old way
 Mobile
device used only for call & Send SMS
 Connect Phone to the PC using USB cable, in order to
get updates or to do backup our contacts etc.

15

New way
 Nowadays
Mobile can
be much more than a phone.
 Internet (3G & Wi-Fi Network).
 Synch your contacts, calendar,
tasks and emails with your
online Google account. (no backup)
 Use data-bases, servers and
applications in the "cloud" to
do searches, play multiuser game,
get the local weather forecast
