• Greeks are most known for their contribution to modern society.
• Including classical art, architecture, drama, philosophy, history,
science, and the Olympic games.

You will be assigned ONE aspect of Greek civilization. For
each aspect, focus on the accomplishments and modern
contributions.
Use pages 62 & 63 for your information

GRAFFITI BOARD
• All students will be broken up into six groups and given a
specific aspect of Greek Civilization to focus on.
• You will take all your knowledge of the topic and transfer it
onto the graffiti board.
• On the graffiti board you should write facts, draw pictures,
sketch important concepts or reiterate ideas about your value.
• Do NOT just copy information from the textbook.
• It is your blank canvas, do whatever you like. It should be a
free expression of your knowledge. BE CREATIVE! Everyone
must contribute!
• After your graffiti board is finished, you will present it to the
class. Make sure you are knowledgeable on your topic – you
are teaching it!

• Greeks stressed health and athletics so every
four years they held a series of contests for the
glory of Zeus.
• Held at the city of Olympia.
• Only men were allowed to compete and watch.
• The Greeks regarded Olympic winners as
heroes (some city-states even excused athletes
from paying taxes)

• In this video, you are going to learn about the history
of the Greek city-states and the construction of these
magnificent structures!
