This beautiful rectangular silver
dish, measuring 19" by 15", was
found, during the 1730s, in the
River Tyne adjoining the Roman
Supply Station of Corstopitum
(Corbridge), not far from
Hadrian's Wall.

A number of crowns or
diadems have been
excavated including this
notable example, found with
five other diadems, at a
temple site in Hockwoldcum-Wilton. It is made of
bronze and decorated with
repousse medallions
depicting bearded faces of a
Celtic type.
This over-lifesize head
from a 2nd century
cult statue of Mercury
was the centrepiece of
the pagan temple
complex excavated at
Uley in
Gloucestershire.
This is part of the end wall of an extension to
an early fourth century stone-built aisledbuilding (something like a tythe-barn),
excavated at Meonstoke in Hampshire.
