WHAT IS LEADERSHIP
I am here today to talk about leadership. Leadership which is a critical
management skill. It is the ability to motivate a group of people toward a common
goal. A leader is a person who has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve
that vision, and the skills to make it happen
A Leader's Vision
A leader has a vision. Leaders see a problem that needs to be fixed or a goal that
needs to be achieved. It may be something that no one else sees or simply
something that no one else wants to tackle. Whatever it is, it is the focus of the
leader's attention and they attack it with a single-minded determination.
Leadership
The True Leader Drives It Through
• It is not enough to just have a vision. Lots of people see things that should
be done, things that should be fixed, great step forward that could be
taken. What makes leaders different is that they act. They take the steps
to achieve their vision.
• Is it a passion for the idea, an inner sense of drive, or some sense of
commitment? Whatever it is, it is the strength that lets leaders move their
vision forward despite all the obstacles, despite all the people saying it
can't be done, it's too costly; we tried that before, or a dozen other
excuses. The true leader perseveres and moves forward.
• Trait and Skills a Leader Must Have
There are things that set leaders apart from other people. Some people
are born with these characteristics. Others develop them as they improve
as leaders. These are not magic bullets. They are things you can do and be
if you want to be a leader.
Leadership
Traits Of A Leader
• There are as many traits of a leader as there are lists of what makes a leader. Here
are the fundamental traits of a leader from our perspective:
• A leader has integrity. People have to believe that you are pursuing your dream
because it's the right thing to do, not just because you are ego driven.
• A leader is a people person. Understands the differences that make people unique
and is able to use those individual skills to achieve the goal.
• A leader is positive. A leader encourages and rewards people and makes you want
to do it and do it right. A leader is not a negative person and doesn't waste time
and effort telling everyone what they're doing wrong.
Leadership Skills
• Beyond the personal traits of a leader, there are specific skills someone must
master if they want to be a leader.
• Effective communication - it's more than just being able to speak and write. A
leader's communication must move people to work toward the goal the leader has
chosen.
• Motivation - a leader has to be able to motivate everyone to contribute. Each of us
has different "buttons". A leader knows how to push the right buttons on everyone
to make them really want to do their best to achieve the leader's goal.
• Planning - the leader has a plan to achieve the goal. He/she doesn't get too
bogged down in the details, that's what managers are for, but rather uses a high
level plan to keep everyone moving together toward the goal.
Leadership
Bottom Line
• We believe that leaders dream dreams. They refuse to let anyone or anything get
in the way of achieving those dreams. They are realistic, but unrelenting. They are
polite, but insistent. They constantly and consistently drive forward toward their
goal. You can be a leader. You will be - when it matters enough to you.
The benefits of good leadership
• Growth and an increase in turnover
• Improved profitability
• Greater staff engagement
• Greater responsiveness to customer demands
• Improved product design and quality
• Contribute to society
• Greater return on investment in business
• Attract investment
• Achieve your company aspirations
Leadership
We believe in teaching and developing leaders.
• We believe that good leadership can be taught through facilitated workshops, consulting,
coaching and mentoring, and report writing, to provide services in these areas:
• We promote effective leadership and strategies by having someone with proven business
experience to bounce ideas off, to the development of specific strategies, skills and
competencies, therefore providing vital service to those wanting to drive value into our
business through innovation.
Emotional intelligence
• I utilize a lot of Emotional intelligence (EI) which is the ability to identify, assess, and control
the emotions of oneself, of others, and of groups.
•
•
•
•
Self-awareness – the ability to read one's emotions and recognize their impact while using
gut feelings to guide decisions.
Self-management – involves controlling one's emotions and impulses and adapting to
changing circumstances.
Social awareness – the ability to sense, understand, and react to others' emotions while
comprehending social networks.
Relationship management – the ability to inspire, influence, and develop others while
managing conflict.
Leadership
OUR BEHAVIOR OF THE LEADER
•
•
•
•
The behavior of a leader is very important in fostering effective relationships. A
good example is showing concern for a subordinate or acting in a supportive
manner
The expressions of positive mood by the leadership improve the performance of
the group. This is a source for employee positive and negative emotions at work.
Leaders can shape workplace affective events for examples giving feedback,
allocating tasks, resource distribution. Since employee behavior and productivity
are directly affected by their emotional states, it is imperative to consider
employee emotional responses to organizational leaders.
Again emotional intelligence, the ability to understand and manage moods and
emotions in the self and others, contributes to effective leadership within
organizations.
We do not want to be toxic leader in our organization. This is someone who has
responsibility over a group of people or an organization, and who abuses the
leader-follower relationship by leaving the group or organization in a worse-off
condition than when he/she first found them.
Leadership
OUR TEAM APROACH AS A TEAM MANAGEMENT:
Characteristics of a Team(We work as a team)
• There must be an awareness of unity on the part
of all its members.
• There must be interpersonal relationship.
Members must have a chance to contribute, and
learn from and work with others.
• The members must have the ability to act
together toward a common goal.

Global Care (IPA)
•
We believe in the delegation of duties and the granting significant autonomy. We
hold people responsible or accountability for their actions. We give quarterly
feedbacks and reward people with incentive for goals achieved. We spend a lot of
time looking for good people and we prove further training for these highly
qualified leaders.
•
I believe in constant listening and good bilateral communication. I believe in
setting clear achievable goals and expects results on a timely basis. If goals are not
meet or reasonable progress made, we usually give feed backs. Given feed backs
can be on positive and negative performance. Finally I feel that a major part of my
work involves motivation of my staff, personnel and the executive management to
aim very high and achieve our goals all the time.
