Supporting Code Status Indicator
Changes for Nurses
What to Look for ( in order of priority)
UD- indicating that pt had a previous DRN order but that has NOT been entered in the
electronic Code Status note for this admission. NOTIFY ATTENDING . CSLs and RSLs are
responsible for monitoring the Indicator and contacting the Attending if the Indicator
shows an Attending Signature is needed on Code Status Instructions.
D – indicating that the attending has signed a DNR/ DNI order/documentation
UF= previously had a full code documented but that has NOT been entered in the
electronic Code Status Note for this admission
F= full code
The Attending completes the Code Status Form in Starpanel to document/ initiate
orders . This must be done with EVERY admission- DNR orders don’t carry over from
admission to admission This documentation generates the orders and hence the
indicator on the whiteboard
