education mentioned in the law)

Workers in social services
Conduct and assess educational events focused on helping reach their potential for people in need. This help is
focused on improving self-sufficiency, contribute to propagation and organization of services with assistence of medical
and social resources, in order to make realisation of educational purpose possible. Performs in social-health services
and social education cetnters and rehabilitation facilities. Her/his actions must be coordinated with other proffesionals
in theese centers. She/he must engage clients, their family, helping comunity as well as enviroment of clients in order to
make re-integration of clients possible.
Law no. 108/2006Sb. About social services
A social services worker shall be a person
a) providing direct service to persons in ambulatory or stay-in social services facilities,
consisting in training simple everyday activities, assistance with personal hygiene and dressing,
manipulation with appliances, aids, clothing, conservancy and care of personal hygiene, support
for self-sufficiency, life activation, creation of social and sociable contacts and satisfaction
of psycho-social needs,
b) performing basic educational non-pedagogical activity consisting in deepening and
strengthening basic hygiene and social habits, influencing creation and development of work
habits, manual skills and working activity, performing free-time activities focused on
development of personality, interests, knowledge and creative abilities in the form of art and
music teaching, physical exercise, arranging for spare-time and cultural activities and provision
of personal assistance,
c) domiciliary activities in the household of a person, consisting in performing works while
being in direct contact with persons with physical and mental difficulties, complex care for
their household, arranging for social assistance, performing social screening under management of
a social worker, providing assistance with the creation of social and sociable contacts and with
psychical therapy, organizational arrangements and complex coordination of domiciliary activity.

Social worker
Education: Minimaly VOŠ (coledge) – three year post high-school
education in the field of social work (there are exceptions)
Internship: not necessary, advantageous
Special requrements:
• Motivation for work in social field and with appropriate target group
• Clean criminal record, health and legal capability
• Creativity, talkativness, presentation skills, basic manager skills,
ability to share information with others and to learn.

Social Woker
Competencies
Provide educational and socialy educational services by helping
doctors, sociologists, psychologists, techers and social
assistents.
Plan and conduct educational and cultural events directly with
children, minors, elderly peaople, diabled people and marginal
groups.
Social worker performs social investigations, ensure social
agenda including social-law counselling in institutions providing:
social services, social-law counselling, analytical, methodical
and conteptual procedures in social field, special prevention
services, screening activities, crysis help, social counselling,
social rehabilitation.

WORKING OF CONDITIONS
Worker in social services
Salary: 9000,- ……….. 14500,- Kč (minimal salary level law + personal
benefit + special benefit)
Working hours: 7,5 hours a day (37,5 a week); also unevenly distributed
work hours
Vacation: 4 weeks + 1 week extra; from 1 year employment 5 weeks
vacation + 1 extra

• Education is mostly paid for by employer

Setting of selection process
Responsibility for selection: executive worker, i.e. emploee superior
Responsibility for selection process: human resource staff – if there is

Standardized processes:
- Applicants are invited on specific time based on CV and often also
motivational letter
- Applicants are introduced to sellection procceses rules
- They sign agreement about personal data keeping during sellection
process
- Executive about assessment and selection process takes action

Interview site: mostly prospecting workspace- office
Selection committee – allways applicant-superior staff, than
human resource director, current social worker,
department director, other directive worker, cca. 3 to 4
people in selection committee
Interview lenght si approximately 25 to 30 minutes
Profficiency test lenght – cca 30 minutes

Process according to choosed method
Interview
- Selection committee is by human resource director (if
there is any) briefed about sellection process, types of
questions and interview rules
- Applicant come in front of the committee individually,
they are greeted, seated, greeted and offered
refreshment in friendly enviroment
- Types of questions – profficiency questions, model tasks
- Applicant is given time for asking questions

Model situations
- Focused on assessing relationship to service users
- Focused on skills- teamleading, creative and system thinking,
presentation skills, comunication effeciency, problem solving,
teamworking etc.
- Applicants mostly work in group and acceptance committee
members compares them.
- Not usualy – applicants work the task and commitee assess them
individualy

- Aproximately 20 questions relative to field applicant
will work in – mostly knowedges about legislation
and work field
- Formerly also computer skills test

- Committee decices after all assessment processes
- End decision lays with superior worker
- Other members have advisory voices
- Often decided the same day
- Sometime there is a short time for decision
Decision briefing
- All aplicants are noted within one week
- By e-mail or by other means, as arranged
- Acceptance letter are allways send by registered mail
and with information about entry
