


They are Sympathetic

Sympathetic friends are aware of how you may be feeling
at a given moment.
They care and respect you.

Be yourself.

Do not pretend to be someone you are not.
Make an effort to meet new people.
Join a club or team.
 Join a youth group or worthwhile cause.

What about dating?
During adolescence, you may begin to feel attracted
to others.
 Dating is a special form of friendship.

and who share common interests and values.

Negative pressure is often easier to recognize than
positive peer pressure.

help you say NO effectively.

Aggressive Communication

Speaking in a way that is overly forceful, pushy,
hostile, or otherwise attacking in approach.
Passive Communication

A tendency to give up, give in, or back down
without standing up for your rights and needs.
Assertive Communication

Behaving with confidence and clearly stating
your intentions.
Peer Pressure
Many teens find that the STOP strategy is an
effective way to use refusal skills.
