What is the forbidden city
The forbidden city is an area, not actually a city. It's in Beijing, and
has housed 24 emperors, 14 of which lived in the Ming dynasty and
10 in the Qing dynasty. The best materials were brought in from all
over China including specially made bricks, logs of rare trees, and
blocks of marble it is made up of mostly stone to make the forbidden
city. It also it has 9999 rooms including antechambers (that have
been found). The Forbidden City was built under the orders of the
powerful Emperor of the Ming Dynasty between the years 1406 to
1420. More than one million people worked on the construction of the
palace. When the palace was completed, the Emperor moved the
capital of the empire to Beijing.
Who Built the forbidden city?
It was built for Zhu Di
(1360-1424 AD) an
emperor who rose to
power in 1402 after
forcefully overthrowing
his nephew. Also in
1402 Di started the
construction of the
forbidden city.
What’s inside the forbidden city’s walls
There are 980
buildings and
structures inside the
26 foot high walls of
the city all of them
have red walls and
gold roofs.
