2. Must be a natural born citizen
3. Must be a resident of the United
States for at least 14 years

Vice-President are identical to
those required to serve as
President.

• A Presidential term is 4 years.
• A President is limited to serving
two four year terms.
• A President is also limited to
serving no more than 10 years
as President of the United

• President’s are elected every four
years through indirect voting and
through the meeting of a group of
people that elect the President and
Vice-President called the Electoral
College.
• Tennessee has 11 electoral votes.

Presidential Succession
•
If something were to happen to the
President of the United States, the
Presidential line of succession is:
1. Vice-President of the United States
2. The Speaker of the House
3. The President Pro Tempore of the
Senate
Succession Continued
• After the President Pro
Tempore, the line of succession
goes to the Presidential cabinet
secretary in the order that their
executive office was created.
• This begins with the Secretary
of State and would end with the
Secretary of Homeland Security.
