George Washington and John Adams Take the
Executive Office in New York after their
inauguration

George Washington would create every
precedent as president

George Washington would be called Mr.

and divide power with the states

The Supreme Court was set up with Six members, later
nine, including one chief justice


George Washington Choose Alexander Hamilton as his
Secretary of the Treasury to oversee the Nation’s
Economy

George Washington Choose Edmund Randolph as his
Attorney General to oversee US legal Matters

All Four men made up Washington's Cabinet and
advised him in his presidency

Alexander Hamilton had to Find a way to repay the
debts owed to Private individuals and foreign nations

The US had to repay the debts to gain respect and
trade partners in other countries

Hamilton's New plan needed the help of the wealthy
in the United States, so he paid them back first
National Moving Day

Hamilton's Plan had three Steps:



Pay off all war debts
Raise Government Revenues
Create a National bank

States that had Paid back their War Debts did not
want to pay back the debts of the North

To Gain the Support of the South the Capital of the
United States was moved to the south
Money in the Bank

Hamilton also Placed a Tariff on Foreign goods to
raise money for the US and promote US Business

Hamilton also founded the National Bank to Establish
financial stability

The Bank Would give the US a place to keep its
money and a way to issue, and loan, money in the
United States

Hamilton’s National Bank brought the meaning of the
Constitution into question

Madison and Jefferson believed the Constitution meant what it
said and therefore did not Call for a National Bank

Hamilton called a National Bank necessary and Proper and
instituted the Elastic Clause

Washington Decided a National Bank was Necessary and sided
with Hamilton
