Words you may need to
know.
Arties- Blood vessel that carries blood away
from the heart and has thick elastic walls
made of connective tissue and smooth
muscle tissue.
Aorta- Branches into smaller arteries, which
then branch into even smaller vessels that
travel all over the body.
Capillaries- Are found in body tissue
Hypertension- Elevation of the blood pressure;
the diastolic pressure
Atriums-heart beat
Ventricles- 2 lower chambers
Artery- blood vessel
Vein- carries blood
Capillary- connects artery and vein
More words you may need to
know
Plasma- liquid part of blood
Hemoglobin- chemical in red blood cells
Platelet- body form in life cycle
Pulmonary circulation- flow of blood
Systemic Circulationbiggest part of the system
Coronary Circulation- forms a tissue in
heart.
Heart-The chambered muscular organ in
vertebrates that pumps blood received
from the veins into the arteries, there by
maintaining the flow of blood through the
entire circulatory system.
Introduction
• Do you know where is your circulatory
system? How you use is? What is it used
for? Why do you even have it? In this slide
show you will find out all the answers that
you would need to know or find out . So lets
go in side your body and discover where
your circulatory system is, what is it used
for and why you have it, all of the questions
you have will be answered.
The system and its functions

The circulatory system is the body’s transport system. It’s mad
up of a lot of organs. The Heart pumps the blood and the arties
and veins transport it. Oxygen rich blood leaves the left side of
the heart and enters the biggest artery called the aorta. The
aorta branches into smaller arteries which then branch into
smaller vessels that transport all over the body. When blood
enters the smallest blood vessels named capillaries and are
found in body tissue it gives nutrients and oxygen to the cells
and takes in carbon dioxide water and waste. The blood that no
longer contains oxygen and nutrients then goes back to the
heart through veins. Veins carry waste products away from
cells and bring blood back to the heart which pumps it to the
lungs to pick up oxygen and throw away bad carbon dioxide
The parts of the system
and there jobs
 The circulatory system is composed of
vessels and muscles that control the flow of
blood around the body. This process of blood
flowing around the body is called circulation.
The main components of the circulatory
system are the heart, arteries, capillaries and
the veins.
Diseases and Disorders
Diseases and Disorders are important to
this system because it can be damaged. A
common disease of the system is
arteriosclerosis. Blood clots develop in
affected vessels. These clots can give
heart attacks or strokes. Hypertension
makes the heart work harder and can
lead to heart attacks, strokes or kidney
failure. Another common disease is
Cardiovascular. If you get
cardiovascular your heart will be
affected.
Skander’s Paraphrase

If We get a diseases or
disorder in our system we can
be very damaged or ill. We
can get hypertension and get
heart attacks or strokes.
The reason’s this system is
important to our body
 1.) The circulatory system is
important because it pumps blood
throughout the body.
 2.) The human circulatory system
has three main parts. The heart,
the blood vessels, & the blood.
 3.) It’s important because the heart
is what’s keeping us alive. Its
pumping blood through out blood
vessels into all other organs
Kamilla’s Paraphrase
My paraphrase is the circulatory
system is almost the important
system because, if the heart stops
or a vein is broken then the whole
body will suffer severe damage.
