The Organization
of the human body
Body Systems
The Skeletal System
• Consists of approximately 206 bones
• Bones, Bone marrow, cartilage, joints,
ligaments, synovial membrane and
fluid, and bursa
• Divided into Axial and Appendicular
• Axial – 80 bones – Thoracic Cavity,
Skull and Vertebrae
• Appendicular – 126 bones – Arms
and Legs
•Function
• Acts as the framework of the body
• Support and protect internal organs
• Makes movement
The Skeletal System
• Identify the following bones
• Skull
• Frontal
• Temporal
• Parietal
• Occipital
• Maxilla
• Mandible
• Zygomatic
• General
• Clavicale
• Radius
• Ulna
• Humerus
• Tibia
• Fibula
• Metacarpals
• Metatarsals
The Muscular System
•
•Consists of approximately 600
muscles
•Skeletal
•Smooth
•Cardiac
•Function
•Hold the body erect and make
movement possible
•Generates 85% of our body heat
•Moves food through the digestive
system
•Moves fluids through other body
systems
The Muscular System
• Identify the following Muscles
• Biceps brachii
• Tricep brachii
• Pectoralis major

The Cardiovascular System
•
•Consists of :
•Heart
•Blood vessels
•Arteries
•Arterioles
•Capillaries
•Venules
•Veins
•Function
•Pumps blood to all body tissue
•Blood transports oxygen and
nutrients to the tissue
•Blood returns waste products from
the tissue to the kidneys and Co2 to
the lungs
•Plays an important part in the
immune system
