Parts of the circulatory system
Major Functions
The heart: The heart is like a pump. It pumps blood
all around the body.
The Artery: The Artery carries the blood to the heart.
The Vein: Veins carry blood to all of the muscles and
organs throughout the body.
The Capillaries: let only a few blood cells through at a
time.
Components
Red Blood Cells: The transport oxygen
through the body.
White Blood Cells: They help the body fight
against bacteria and diseases.
Plasma: They help transport red and white
blood cells.
Blood Path
The arteries carry blood to the heart and
veins carry blood away from the heart. The
blood path is like a web that goes through
the major organs and muscles. They travel
through the arms, legs, head, toes, and
fingers.
Systems that work together
(Digestive)
The Digestive System:
It breaks down food
so that it can be
absorbed into the
circulatory system.
Then the circulatory
system carries the
nutrients to the
tissues to use and
remove wasts.
Systems that work together
(Muscular)
Without the muscular system the heart would not
function. The circulatory system provides food as
glucose and oxygen so muscles can do their
work.
Systems that work together
(Respiratory)
You breathe in oxygen into your lungs. The
oxygen diffuses across the thin wall of the
Alveoli in the lungs and the thin walls of
the blood vassals. The posses repeats
itself over and over again.
Five facts about the circulatory
system
The circulatory system is made up of the vessels and the muscles
that help and control the flow of the blood around the body. This
process is called circulation. The main parts of the system are the
heart, arteries, capillaries and veins.
The average adult heart can beat up to 70 times per minute. If there
are 1,440 minutes in a day there would be…
100,800 times per day!
When the heart pumps blood, it
travels through blood vessels all
over the body. Because blood
needs to reach all the different
corners of the body, the average
person has so many blood vessels
that their length could circle twice
around the world! A person has
about six quarts of blood that
these amazing blood vessels help
to circulate!
Continuing Five facts about the
circulatory system
A vein is an elastic blood vessel that transports blood from various
regions of the body to the heart. Veins can be grouped into four
main types: pulmonary, systemic, superficial, and deep veins.
