Dear Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand,
We are honoured to severe you,
We have found the following information for you
as you have requested. My team found the
natives life very interesting. Please find the
following sheets of information enclosed.
Thank You,
Don Federico Gomez Antropoló
We have found many different cultures within New Spain. We have made contact with 3 of
these including the Inca they have a very large empire that extends for kilometres we believe
they are the largest empire in New Spain they speak a language called Quechua. They live in a
very interesting area full of lush Forests, desserts, river valleys and grassy plateaus .This Empire
is also very wealthy and have been able to solved problems that wehave never though of one
which is very Different to our own they do not have a language for writing which is something
we are all used to.
We have also found a civilization called the Maya. They are not an Empire But they have kings
like in Spain. The Mayans have large city state which follow under the same rituals. Which are
unlike any we have seen before this includes killing someone as a sacrifice to their gods.
Unlike the Inca the Mayans have a language for writing, they write on walls of buildings, we do
not know what this is called but they speak something called Rabinal Achi
Last is the Aztec they don’t like to have Spanish on there land but we found out some
interesting facts about them .There are around One Million people living within the Aztec
Empire the Aztec spook a language called Nahuatl and it varies on where you live. One of
their cities stood out from all the other places we visited, it was called Tenochtitlan it stood in
the middle of giant lake; their buildings were very different to our own back in spain
Aztecs originally greeted the Spaniards with food, gold, and women however
the Spanish showed a very strong sense of supremacy towards the Aztecs.
Hernando Cortes wanted to convert the natives to Christianity. But the native
did not understand what they wanted. And when told repent and they didn't
and the Conquistadors assumed they were rejecting the words of God and
killed the natives.
It wasn’t till Hernando Cortes killed their leader in Tenochtitlan that the
Aztec became very hostile towards the Spanish they started an uprising and
where able to drive them out in July 1520. Many men where lost but
Hernando was able to survive and on August 13 1521 destroyed Aztec capital
Tenochtitlan and built a new city on top of it. Many Aztec people died after
the conquest.
If Hernando died during the uprising and understood the natives didn't
understand them the Aztecs could till have been around.
The Mayans had very different ways of farming and
producing food they mostly ate corn, manioc (cassava),
sunflower seeds. The Mayans are know as the “Men of
Maize” because of the endless fields of corn they produced. We
have also seen beans, squash, chilli and many
of vegetables. Mayans also hunted fish and wild animals
including monkeys, armadillo, turkeys , ducks and
Pheasants. Hunter used to kill animals with acalled a blowgun
this was filled with poison and shot like
and gun killing them. They also used traps.
Mayans had a very healthily way of life full of vegetable
fruits and meat.
The Aztecs use very different ways for paying for something,
they use gold, Jewels, textiles, cacao beans and copper axes to
buy something. The cacao bean were seen as very precious as it
is made into something called chocolate. The Inca didn’t really
have a real source of money but they traded at markets for
goods, women traded cloth for more expensive items like
jewels, clothing and gold. This was the same for the Mayans as
they would trade items like jade, cacao beans, Amber etc. This
is very different to the coins we use back in modern Spain but
it is very effective in trade.
The Aztecs: We know they controlled there land through the Triple Alliance this include
the of Tenochtitlan, Texcoco and Tlacopan these are all major cites in the Aztec Empire.
Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztec empire.this was a place where a lot of noble
and powerful leaders lived. We saw some very large in Tenochtitlan and it must by where
the most powerful leaders in the Aztec Empire control everything.
The actual Empire of the Aztec is much different to the ones in Europe .When they
conquered a cities or tribe they would have to pay respect to the Aztec Empire . In return
the cites would conquered cites would receive a better outcome in there economy. Most
of the time tribute was gold and was handed to the ruler or king of the Aztecs this made
them very rich and powerful. The of people Aztecs Empire suffered the most because of
the Government, they had to tribute large amounts of money to the leaders. Which was
not very good for them they would have suffered a lot if they did not pay the government.
For the Aztec men, they were able to marry as many women as the wanted as
long as he could afford it. The women mostly wove clothing or spun thread and
this was a form of income for the poorer people.
The Mayans family all had part in what they had to do. All men had to farm and
hunt. Women had to cook and weave cloth. Children had help do chores only
noble families could send there kids to an education.
Males worked hard for their families so it wasn’t an easy life if they were poor. All
people respected there leaders and looked to the gods so there are some family
Values in a family.
For the Inca the government told them what they had to do, they dictated who
worked where and when they worked. If someone did not follow these laws they
would face the death penalty
Aztec daily life had several roles, the husband was primarily responsible for supporting the family and
the wife’s role was to provide the family with clothing and food. Aztec daily life for many of the men
was to farm or engage in craftwork. However female Aztec life was centred on weaving and cooking.
The Aztec daily life was very work related. Every member of the household, including children helped
out.
Education was important to the Aztec people too, and again specific roles were present, Fathers were
responsible for educating the boys in the family until they reached the age of 10. After this age, the
boys were placed in a school connected with a temple. These schools taught religion and provided
military training. Girls sometimes attended these schools, but mostly they stayed at home and
learned from their mothers important life skills.
In 16th century Spain, there were “social classes” a hierarchy system (where you fit in society) similar to
the Aztecs, but much more expanded. Here are the three main classes: those who pray (the church),
those who fight (the nobility), and those who work (everyone else).
There were those who prayed and served the church, which was at that time quite influential to the
public.
There was the nobility who were supposed to serve the state by offering their lives to the king in
military service, and on that basis were exempt from taxes. However it wasn’t acceptable for a
nobleman to do anything else but that, otherwise lose their social status for them and their
decedents
The Incas built their buildings on mountains, hills and near to jungles allowing them
to take advantage of several agricultural resources. This also allowed for a tactical
advantage when hiding or fighting against the Spanish. They were not easy to be
found because of their location up in the mountains. As the population expanded
they built artificial agricultural terraces that served to create useful land for crops
on the steep Andean hillsides.
This picture demonstrates a famous Incan settlement at Machu Picchu.

I hope this helped you as much as you requested. We
believe it is important that the conquistadors are stopped
before they do something bad to the natives, We fear they
may want to destroy them, killing thousand even millionsof
innocent people and they must be prevented and leader ship
must begin in your new land or it could all go up inflames,
I hope you make the right decision.
Thank You,
Don Federico Gomez Antropoló
