REGULAR DIETS
• REGULAR DIETS HAVE NO RESTRICTIONS
• MEALS ARE WHAT YOU DESIRE
DIABETIC DIET
• LOW CARBOHYDRATES
• LOW FATS
• LOW SODIUM
• LITTLE TO NO SUGAR INTAKE
• FOOD THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED: FOOD HIGH IN SUGAR, SALT, STARCHES SUCH AS CANDY,
CUPCAKES, SALTED PRETZELS
MECHANICAL SOFT DIET
• FOODS THAT ARE MECHANICALLY ALTERED SO THAT THEY ARE EASY TO CHEW AND OR
SWALLOW DUE TO A POSSIBLE MEDICAL REASONING, MISSING TEETH, ILL FITTING DENTURES,
AND OR SORE MOUTH
• FOODS THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED: NUTS, SEEDS, COLD CEREAL, POTATO CHIPS, POP CORN,
FRUITS WITH SKIN ETC.
CLEAR LIQUID DIET
• WATER
• BROTH
• PLAIN GELATIN
• THIS DIET IS USED BEFORE MEDICAL PROCEDURES AND OR IF YOU HAVE SOME DIGESTIVE
PROBLEMS SUCH AS VOMITING OR DIARRHEA
• AVOID ALL SOLID FOODS AND LIQUIDS
PUREED DIET
• CHOP OR GRIND FOOD INTO A THICK PASTE
• PUREED DIET IS USED FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING AND OR CHEWING
DUE TO MEDICAL REASONING, MISSING TEETH, SORE MOUTH
• MOST FOODS CAN BE COOKED PURÉED (LIQUIDS AND COOKED FOOD BLENDED)
• AVOID: RAW DRIED FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, EGG, PEANUT BUTTER, PASTA, RICE, CRACKERS,
NUTS, SEEDS, COCONUTS
