Who Is Kodaly?
The Kodaly Method is an approach to music
education which was developed in Hungary during
the Twentieth century. The approach was inspired by
the philosophies of the Hungarian composer and
educator, Zoltan Kodály (1882 – 1967).
Kodaly believed that singing should be the
foundation of all music education, and that ideally, it
should begin as early as possible.

What is Orff Schulwerk?
‘Orff Schulwerk’ is a music education program
pioneered by Carl Orff (1895 – 1982), a German
composer and his music educator and colleague
Gunild Keetman (1904 – 1991).
The ideas of Orff Schulwerk are based on the
fundamental unity of music, speech, singing,
movement and most of all instruments.
It is a general education program designed for all
children.
