Post-op Assessment Forms
 These forms serve two purposes
 They allow us to answer any questions about healing, postop drop regimes, enhancement suitability, etc.
 They help us track our statistics, which in turn enables us
to make any adjustments necessary for future patients and
provide the best possible results to our mutual patients
Retreatment Rates
 Higher retreatment rates for high myopes (above -6.00)
 More likely to get undercorrection or regression
 High myopes are educated that their risk of retreatment is
higher than average
 Since 2006, the overall retreatment rate is 5.28%
 In 2014
 iLASIK retreatment rate was 2.29%
 PRK retreatment rate was 1.13% (smaller sample size)
RETREATMENTS
RETREATMENTS/ENHANCEMENTS
 Should be PATIENT DRIVEN!
 Keep it positive
 Don’t worry about “the numbers”
 Consider all factors including the ocular
surface!
RETREATMENT OPTIONS:
Relift Post LASIK
Repeat PRK
PRK on the LASIK flap
 Poor RSB
 Time since original LASIK Surgery
Retreatment Protocol
 Post LASIK:
 Typically 6m (ensuring STABILITY)
 Relift within 2 years (can vary with surgeon)
 Post PRK:
 AT LEAST 6m post Sx (usually between 6-12m)
 Stable refraction
 PRK over PRK
HORIZON LASER VISION CENTER
 Retreatment Policy:
 N/C within 2 years of original surgery
 2-5 years: $500 per eye
 2014
 Overall RTMT rate 2%
 Consistent between LASIK and PRK
