Oral Notification
 Before each
application, tell
workers:

description of the
treated area
 Length of REI
 Not to enter during
the REI
 Provide the same information to workers
who start after the application was made

workers who attempt
to comply with any
provision of the WPS
Pesticide Handler Training
Applies to any
employee in California
who handles pesticides
as part of their job. This
includes agriculture and
all non-agricultural
uses.
PCAs and Certified
Applicators are exempt
from these training
requirements.
Pesticide Handler
 Mix, load, apply pesticides
 Work as flagger
 Assist in any way with
application
 Clean, service, or repair
contaminated equipment
 Handle opened containers
or unrinsed empty
containers
 Field scout or PCA making
observations during
application
Handler Training
Requirements
 Train yearly, before
handling activities
 Training must be
specific to pesticides
being used
 Update training when
new pesticides are to
be used

 Signed by trainer,
employer, and

 Keep for two years
