MARITIME
AFFAIRS
From Netherlands
• the Roadmap for EMODNet should include a step by step
approach towards its further development and
establishment. The Roadmap should in our view:
a) provide a comprehensive framework for the future financing of EMODNet;
b) make explicit EMODNet’s respective contributions to
•
implementation and monitoring of marine policies, such as the MFSD;
•
(decision support tools for) maritime spatial planning in European sea-basins;
•
Blue growth;
c) identify and establish the role and involvement of the EU Member States in the further
development of EMODNet; and
d) include conditions (checks and balances) for adequate coordination and process
management.
• And it would be important that the Roadmap takes account
of:
a) the many related developments in the field of maritime/marine data collection, assembly
and dissemination; and
b) the many related initiatives already being undertaken or foreseen in the Member States.
