Modern Chinese History: 1911 - 1949
The last Chinese Dynasty collapsed at the turn
of the century in 1911.
China tried to become a Democracy, but the
people aren’t educated enoughto organize the
whole country before the chaos of WWI
happens in 1914.
Chinese Civil War:
Jiang Jieshi
AKA Chiang Ki Shek
(a capitalist warlord)
Vs.
Mao Zedong
(a communist peasant)
After WWI, in the 1920’s, China is ruled by
Capitalist Warlords who use their private
armies to control peasants and territory.
Eventually Jiang Jieshi became the leader of
these warlords.
At the same time, Communists, led by Mao
Zedong, challenged the capitalists and their
Western allies.
This led to Civil War.
