Propaganda Was used during the war to encourage people to do stuff to help
Themselves and the country, some propaganda became very popular. Such as,
Dig For Victory witch was encouraging people to plant there own food,
I WANT YOU witch was used to encourage Men to go to war.
Here are some examples:
The Blitz
The Blitz was a period of time during the war where Germany blew up Factories,
Ship ports and Farms. Millions of people were killed and many more injured,
Millions of people were also left homeless. To protect people from bombing
Britain invented Alderson shelters. Although anderson shelters were made of
corrugated iron they broke if it was a direct. They were small, dark, damp,
cramped and miserable.
Evacuation
Evacuation was when children under a certain age were taken out of city that
were being affected by the blitz, they were moved to more safe places such as
the countryside and the Highlands. Children were transported using buses,
trains and if you were lucky even boats. Evacuation saved millions of children
all over Britain, the whole system was optional, you did not have to take part.
When you were at your destination the Officer would line you up and the people
who wanted children would pick you. People could be fined if they never took
any children Parents only got to go with young children.
Rationing
Rationing was when people only got a certain amount of food, its purpose
was to share food out evenly among everyone because Britain had a
shortage of food. The reason for not having a lot of food was because
Germany was bombing our cargo ships and farms. Foods such as meats,
Fish, bread, sweets, Flour, cakes and even petrol were rationed!
