4.) List, in order, the Kings of England between the
Restoration and the end of the Glorious Revolution.
 As part of our Veterans Day assembly that will be coming

up soon, we are going to write an essay
This essay should be between 300 and 400 words
Do not identify yourself in the essay
Your view of the theme should be positive
You are all required to submit an essay at the end of class,
I will read through them and pick the 2-3 best on our
team to be submitted
The theme of the essay should be Why I Appreciate
America’s Veterans

 Who was the Prussian prime minister during the
unification of Germany?
 Who were the two leaders that unified Italy?
 Peninsulas – wealthy Spanish born citizens that were
the smallest percentage of the populations but they
held the highest political positions.
 Creoles- Spaniards born in Latin America who could
not hold political positions but could be military
officers.
 Mestizos ( mixture of European and Indian ancestry)
and Mulattos (a mixture of European and African
ancestry) were below the peninsulas and creoles.
 Slaves: Africans and Native Americans
 In 1791 100,000 slaves revolted. There leader was
Toussaint L’ Ouveture.
 in 1801 L’ Ouveture had gained control of the entire
island and freed all slaves
 1802 French soldiers capture L’Oveture.
 1804 Haiti declared its independence. (only successful
slave revolt in history)
 Revolutions were caused by social class problems
 Where else have we seen this?
 The Mestizos and the Creoles were inspired by the
ideas of the enlightenment and the ideas of
nationalism to rebel against Spain
 Why would Creoles rebel?
 Padre Miguel y Costilla Hidalgo led a rebellion in
Mexico but they were defeated in 1811. (He dies)
 They tried again 4 years later but they failed again.
 In 1821 creoles declared their independence from
Spain( they feared Napoleon II would take away their
Power).
 1823 central American nations (Nicaragua, Guatemala,
Honduras, EL Salvador, and Cost Arica) declared their
independence from Mexico
 Simon Bolivar led rebellions throughout South
America starting with in Venezuela in 1811.
 Boliver then free Colombia and Ecuador
 Boliver combined forces with other generals to liberate
Peru.
 South America was a single country (known as Gran
Colmobia ) for a short period of time. Political issues
separated the countries into their own states.
 Define the following word terms and be prepared to
discuss
 Reign of Terror
 English Bill of Rights
 Restoration
 Coup d’etat
 There will be different activities at each station around
the room
 You will complete each activity within the given
amount of time.
 When tell you to rotate you will go to the next station.
If you are at station 5 go to station 1 if you are at station
1 go to station 2 ect………
 Although you will be walking around in groups you are
expected to complete your own work and turn it in at
the end of class.
 List out 5 things that we discussed when we covered
the Latin American Revolutions.
• For this activity you will create propaganda posters for one of
the following Latin American revolutions: the Haitian American ,
The Mexican or the South American Revolutions.
• Posters need to include the following:
– The reason for the revolution
– The name of the leader of the revolution.
– The source of inspiration for the revolution
– Information about social classes
– A Picture that represents the revolutions
– A slogan to get people to join the revolution
During this activity students will work in groups student
Students will present their posters once they are finished.
