Shepard Fairey
• Considered a graffiti /street artist. Uses street
sensibilities and could be considered a
modern day POP artist.
• Main materials are paper, wheat paste, stencils
and paint.
• His focus is predominantly political, but
incorporates popular imagery into a lot of his
work. He became notorious for his
propaganda art, and the brand “OBEY”
Andre The Giant Has a Posse
• The idea was simply about the power of the
image….Created as an experiment about the
phenomenon of imagery and how society
reacts to particular images , Fairey created a
whole “brand” of art that started with bumper
stickers and grew to a whole art movement.
• Much Like the image “Kilroy was Here” during
the WWII era.
