Torah –the holy book of the Jewish people
monotheism- belief in one god
Covenant-a promise between a people and God
Abraham-a prophet of Judaism
Yahweh –the god of the Hebrews (monotheistic)
Hebrews- tribe of early Jewish people from
Mesopotamia and Egypt
• Exodus –the freedom of the Jewish people by Moses
from Egypt and slavery
• Moses – Jewish prophet who led his people to freedom
and was given the Ten commandments by God
• Ten Commandments- social, moral and religious code
given by God to Moses and the Jewish people

• Next, students will be selected to read
sections from “The Hebrews”
• After, all students will answer the three
questions that follow

either:
• 1) draw a snapshot from a day in the life of
the early Hebrews
• 2) write a “headline” for an article written
about early Hebrew life
Homework
• Students will complete handout #3 for
homework “The Roman Empire and Judasim”
• In addition, please do not forget to complete
your graphic organizer for extra credit on the
upcoming exam on Tuesday and Wednesday
