ENERGY
ENERGY IS THE CAPACITY OF AN
OBJECT OR A BODY TO
TRANSFORM AN ENERGY SOURCE
INTO WORK
TYPES OF ENERGY
MECHANICAL ENERGY
 ELECTRICAL ENERGY
 ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY
 SOUND ENERGY
 CHEMICAL ENERGY
 NUCLEAR ENERGY
 THERMAL OR CALORIFIC ENERGY

ELECTRICAL
ENERGY IT MAKES
ELECTRICALLY POWERED
MACHINES WORK WHEN
THEY´RE CONNECTED TO A
SUPPLY OF ELECRICITY
ELECTROMAGNETIC
TRANSPORTED BY
ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES
LUMINOUS ENERGYIS A TYPE
OF ELECTROMAGNETIC
ENERGY GENERATED BY THE
SUN OR ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS
CHEMICAL
STORED IN SUBSTANCES , IT CAN
BE RELEASED OR ABSORBED
DURING CHEMICAL PROCESS
KINETIC ENERGY:
IS THE ENERGY THAT OBJECTS
HAVE WHEN THEY´RE IN
MOTION.
POTENTIAL ENERGY:
IS THE ENERGY THAT OBJECTS
HAVE WHEN THEY´RE MOVED
FROM THEIR STABLE POSITION
OF EQUIIBRIUM
SOUND
ASSOCIATED WITH SOUND
WAVES THAT ARE
TRANSMITTED THROUGH
VIBRATIONS
NUCLEAR
CONTAINED IN THE NUCLEI OF
ATOMS IT IS RELEASED DURING
NUCLEAR REACTIONS
ENERGY SOURCES
NON-RENEWABLE
NUCLEAR ENERGY:
NUCLEAR FUSSION:JOIN TO FORM A HEAVIER NUCLEUS
NUCLEAR FISSION:SPLIT INTO TWO LIGHTER NUCLEI
COAL ENERGY :
OPEN-CAST MINES
UNDERGROUND MINES
PETROLEUM ENERGY:
OIL TANKERS
OIL PIPELINES
NATURAL GAS:
IT’S EXTRACTED BY DRILLING
IT’S TRANSPORT LIQUID
NON-RENEWABLE ENERGIES AND
THE ENVIRONMENT
INCREASED GREENHOUSE EFFECT
 ACID RAIN
 OIL SPILLS
 NUCLEAR WASTE
 RISING WATER TEMPERATURE
 ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION

THE FOUR-STROKE CYCLE
1.
2.
3.
4.
Intake: the intake valve opens. The piston descends from
the top to the botton of the cylindrel and mixture of fuel and
air enters the cylinder
Compression: the intake valve closed. The piston rises and
compresses the mixture
Combustion power: a spark from the distributor ignites the
compresed mixture. The gases expand and push the piston
down. Thies is when power is produced.
Exhaust: the exhaut valve open. The piston pushes the hot
gases out, and a new cycle begins
Capacity of an object to transform an energy into work
Energy
Maechanical, nuclear, thermal or calorific,
chemical, electrical, electromagnetic, sound
Types of
energy
Transformation
Measurement
The law of conservation of energy : energy
can not be create or destroyed it can be only
transformed
Joules, in the international system and
calories
Natural resources that provide different forms of energy
Non-renewable
Energy sources
Renewable
Nuclear, energy from fossils fuels, coal,
petroleum, natural gas
Hydraulic, solar, wind, marine, geothermal,
biomass, MSW.
Transform thermal energy from a fuel into mechanical energy
to perform work
