Transcript Forms of Energy and Transfers - Mr-Durands

Good Morning 4/10/2016
Starter: What type of energy (kinetic or potential)
do you think heat is?
For Today:
Now that we know the two basic types of energy
(kinetic or potential) it is time to learn about all the
different forms that energy can take.
Answer: Kinetic
Forms of Energy & Transfers
Part 1 Forms of Energy
• For this part your group needs to answer
the following questions about your
assigned form of energy. Your
spokesperson will then have to present it
to the class.
The questions
• Is your form of energy Potential or Kinetic?
• How do you describe your form of energy
or how do we often experience it?
• What is something that either uses or
produces this form of energy?

Part 2 Energy Transfers
• In the table on your paper use the list of to
help identify the energy form that is
required and produced for each of the
three objects. Then as a group come up
with three other objects that convert
energy from one form to another.

Why does energy change forms,
why can’t it just go away?
• Energy is like matter, it’s a real thing it
can’t just “go away”.
Part 3 Multiple Energy Transfers
• In this part you will need to think of how to
make of a series of energy transfers. Start
with one form of energy and then convert it
into another form using any device you
can think of then transfer it again with a
different device.
Example: The sun converts nuclear
energy to Radiant energy, the tree
converts radiant energy to chemical
energy, the campfire converts chemical
energy to heat & Radiant energy.
