The Complete Duden Dictionary
and Thesarus
 Death interjects the story with the definitions of eight
words. Why does he choose these eight words?
 What do the definitions have to do with the stories
around them?
Your Turn
 Choose five words that apply to your life in this
moment AND three of the 8 words that Death defines.
 Write the dictionary definition of each word and then
write a few sentences about why that word applies to
your own life.
 You should have 8 words total.
 Words: happiness, forgiveness, fear, word, opportunity,
misery, silence, and regret.
For Example:
 Anticipation: the act of anticipating; expectation or
hope.
 I am waiting in anticipation of spring break, because I
am going camping with my friends. We didn’t go
camping at all last year, which is unusual for us, so I’m
excited to go during spring break.
