• Most nouns add ‘s’.
• Nouns ending in hissing, buzzing or shushing
sounds (s/x/ch/sh) add ‘es’.
• Nouns ending in consonant + y, change the y to
an i and add es.
• Some nouns ending in ‘o’ ass ‘es’.

• Record the main rules for pluralizing nouns.
• Give examples for each.
• Choose one rule and find as many examples
which fit that spelling pattern as you can. Use

log neatly with accurate spellings.
