What is Jock Itch?
• Jock itch is an infection caused by the growth of fungus
usually in the groin area. Another name for this skin
disease is tinea cruris.
• Jock itch is most common in men and adolescent boys.
• This skin disease maybe contagious and can be passed
through unwashed clothing, or direct skin-to-skin
contact.

What causes Jock Itch?
• Jock itch is caused by the build up of fungi in the groin
area. If the groin area gets sweaty and does not properly
dry, fungi will soon multiply.
• Jock Itch is also triggered from the friction of clothes in
the groin area.
Signs and Symptoms
• Jock Itch usually begins with a mild itch in the
groin region. The itching can get worse through
time.The rash may become rough or dry, and even
develop pus bumps.
• Itching may even spread to the penis, scrotum, labia
vagina, or anus regions.
• Symptoms include flaking, peeling, or cracking of the
skin, and skin redness.
If rash gets worse, bumps begin to develop
Treatments
• Most cases of Jock Itch are very easily cured. This skin
disease can be cured with the following;
-Self-care treatment.
-Keeping skin clean and dry.
-Don't wear clothing that may rub or irritate infected area.
-Apply over the counter powders or anti-fungal that may
contain miconazole, clotrimazole, or tolnaftate.
