The Inner Planets
The inner planets are the planets closest to the
sun. The inner planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth,
and Mars.

Venus
Earth
Mars
The Outer Planets
The outer planets are the farthest from the sun. The
outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Earth’s Surface
Earth is 70% water and 30% land. Earth’s continents
are Africa, Asia, Australia, Antarctica, Europe, North
America, and South America. The five oceans are
The Indian Ocean, The Atlantic Ocean, The Arctic
Ocean, The Pacific Ocean, and The Southern Ocean.
The South Pole contains the largest ice cap.
Earth’s Surface
The Grand Canyon is what we are going to talk about
now. The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona. The
Grand Canyon was formed because of the Colorado
River. The Canyon is 277 miles long and over a mile
deep.
Mar’s Surface
Many people ask why is Mars red or why is Mars called
the Red Planet. Mars is red because of its iron oxide.
There are not any continents in Mars. There aren’t any
oceans in Mars either. Mars has a lot of craters in its
surface. Mars a volcano and it is called Olympus Mons.
Mar’s Surface
Believe it or not, Mars also has a Grand Canyon but its
not called The Grand Canyon. It’s actually called Valles
Marineris. Valles Marineris is more than 4,000 km
(2,500 mi) long, 200 km (120 mi) wide and up to 7 km
(23,000 ft) deep. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles
(446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains
a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 meters).
Curiosity
Curiosity is one of Mar’s rovers (others are Mars 2,
Mars 3, Sojourner, Beagle 2, Spirit, and Opportunity).
Curiosity has discovered water in Mars, radiation, and
signs of past life. Some facts about Curiosity: the lasers
fixed on top of the rovers “head” can shoot at a
distance of up to 23 feet and vaporize anything in their
path. Curiosity is one big bad boy— it weighs 1,982
pounds on earth (about the weight of a Mini Cooper).
And it took eight months for the rover to make it to
Mars from Earth!
How Mars and Earth are different
Earth and Mars are also different, and here are some
examples: Mars is much much colder than Earth
because it orbits around the sun farther away from
where Earth orbits the sun. Mars doesn’t have any
seas, oceans, etc. Mars is half of the Earth’s size. And
last but not least, Mars hasn’t been found with living
beings on the planet.
How Mars and Earth are alike
Mars and Earth are alike, and here are some
examples: Both of them are quite rocky and are
relatively the same shape. They both contain water
(though Mars has only trace amounts). One more
thing is that are both inner planets.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Mars and Earth have things in common ,
but they also have differences. I think in the years to
come while our technology advances we will learn
more stuff about Mars. I think that Curiosity is doing a
good job and it will keep us in formed. HOPE YOU
ENJOYED!!!!!!
