Background
• D300 graduation requirements were last updated
in 2003
• In November, the D300 Board of Education asked
for a review of current graduation requirements
• D300 staff were surveyed in May
• D300 community was surveyed in May
Current Graduation Requirements

4 credits of English
•
3 credits of Math (including Algebra and Geometry)
•
2 credits of Science
•
3 credits of Social Studies (including World History, Global Economics, US Government,
and US History)
•
3 ½ credits of Physical Education
•
½ credit of Health
•
Driver Education (½ credit if taken at school, no credit if taken privately)
•
10 credits of Electives (including at least one credit from each of the following areas:
Strand 1– Art/Music/World Languages; Strand 2 – English/Math/Science/SS;
Strand 3 – Business/Industrial/FACS)

Current Graduation Requirements
Elective Strand Requirements
Strand requirements ensure that students graduating from District 300 schools receive a
well-rounded education. This permits students to experience a variety of courses in
numerous subject areas. All students must earn a minimum of 1.0 credit in each of the three
strands to graduate.
