 ENGLISH: PreAP English II, English II, HS PreAP English II or HS English II
 MATH: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or Honors Algebra II
(math course progression: Algebra I  Geometry  Algebra II  Adv. Math option)
 SCIENCE: Biology I, Biology II, Chemistry, Environmental Science/Zoology, HS
Human A&P, Human A&P- **Please note that Health Science Academy students
will take Chemistry and HS Human A&P**
 HISTORY: World History or Accelerated World History

DUAL CREDIT COURSE
Dual Credit Public Speaking will be offered to sophomores. You will receive high school credit for
the course AND 3 hours of college credit through Hinds Community College. Please keep in
mind that this is a college level course. In order to take the course, you have to meet the
following ACT requirements:
ACT English subscore= 17
ACT Reading subscore= 17
The last ACT you can take to qualify for this course is April 8, 2017.
The deadline for registering for the April 8 th ACT is March 3rd. The cost of the test is $42.50

The cost of taking the dual credit course is $100 plus the cost of the book. You will be billed
through Hinds in the fall or spring depending on the semester you take the class.
The high school grade will be weighted by 1.10; however, the college grade WILL NOT receive a weight.

 COMMUNITY COLLEGE- You automatically meet admission requirements for a community college by
earning your high school diploma from BHS and taking the ACT!
 4-YEAR PUBLIC UNIVERSITY IN MISSISSIPPI- In addition to BHS graduation requirements, you need 2
advanced electives
Advanced Elective Options: (2 Carnegie units needed)
*Option 1: Foreign Language I and Foreign Language II
*Option 2: Foreign Language I and Advanced World Geography
*Option 3: Any combination of English, Mathematics higher than Algebra I, Science
higher than Biology I, Advanced Elective category, or any AP course
