Stress the importance of credits in high school
If a student fails a class they fall behind for graduation- different from middle school
• How are Credits Earned?
• Every class that is passed with a D or better each semester
earns 5 credits.
• Students should be earning 30 credits a semester or 60
credits a year
• How many credits are needed to graduate?
• 230 credits needed
• How will my student and I know how many credits have been
earned?
• Progress reports and final semester grades
• Each year counselors deliver two classroom presentations to
walk all students through reading their own transcript and
understanding what they need to graduate.
 School
policy allows level changes up to
the first 5 weeks of the semester (only 2
weeks into 2nd semester)
• For example: moving from World History Honors
to World History College Prep
 Elective
changes are not allowed
• For example: moving from Woodworking to
Drawing and Painting
 Teacher
changes/requests not allowed
 Progress
report every 5-6 weeks
 Final semester grades December and
June.
 Edline- students will receive code in their
English class
 Always contact teacher first with
concerns about class and grade
