an area north of Sumer.

He was destined to conquer
Sumer and build one of the
world’s first great empires.

He organized the Akkadians
into a strong fighting force
and became their military
king.

united them with his empire
of Akkad
He becomes the first leader
to unite northern and
southern Mesopotamia
His will eventually spread
civilization beyond
Mesopotamia.

Sargon is considered to have been a good
general and a wise ruler of his empire.
 He fought more than 30 wars.
 He reigned for 56 years.
 He built a great capital city.
 He spread the Sumerian Language Cuneiform
 He is also one of the first kings to appoint
governors to help rule over conquered cities.
