Welcome to Mr. Ezell’s





Welcome to West
View Middle School!
My name is Mr. Ezell
I teach 6th Grade
Social Studies.
I like to fish, camp,
read, and hang out
with my friends
Welcome to Mr. Ezell’s
Ancient World History Class!



I like music and love
playing with my kids
I love football (Go Vols!)
I have a Bachelor's
degree in History from
Carson Newman & a
Master’s degree from
LMU
This is my family…


And this is Drew (5) and
my other son Jake
(almost 2)
This is me with my wife,
Kelly and our son Drew
(he’s 4).
In this class we have a commitment to
EXCELLENCE.







You will follow the rules posted on the wall.
You are also expected to do these five things:
1. DO YOUR BEST, ALL THE TIME.
2. Be in control of yourself
3. Be respectful.
4. Be responsible.
5. Do the RIGHT thing.
My Class



My class will be a fun class in which we can learn
and become better people
This will only happen if we follow classroom
procedures
Procedure: “an established or official way of
doing something:”
How to Enter My Class



You will enter the room quietly and take
care of any needed business.
Needed business includes: already having:
a drink of water, sharpening a pencil,
turning in homework, throwing away
any garbage, take out pencil, paper, and
books.
You may not do any of these things during
learning time.
What do we do next?



You will begin the bellringer immediately.
You will be working on the bellringer by
the time the bell rings.
You begin class, not the bell. But you
begin class by following this procedure.
What is a tardy?



You are tardy to my class if you are not in
your seat when the bell rings.
If you are walking through the door when
the bell rings, you are tardy.
If you are tardy you will receive a
classroom step.
What is a classroom step?






Classroom steps are given for classroom
disruptions.
Classroom disruptions include:
Tardies
Not following directions the first time given.
Disruptive behavior
Violation of posted classroom rules.
Where do I turn in homework?



All homework is turned in by placing it in
the tray on the student table
Each tray is marked with a class period.
Your homework must be placed in the
appropriate tray.
Every homework assignment will be placed
in the tray BEFORE the tardy bell rings
If I miss a day, when do I have to
turn in my work?



All work is to be picked up the day you return and
must be turned in the next day.
If you are absent more than one day you will be
given as many days to turn in work as you were
out.
Example: if you miss Monday and Tuesday, return
to school Wednesday, ALL work is due on Friday.
How do we leave the room
during class?


If we need to leave the room during class, we will
line up along the student table, single file.
You should be responsible and be a leader. You
will set a good example for the class.
How do we leave the room
during class?



While in the hallway, we will remain quiet, keep
our hands to ourselves, and will walk to our
destination
Talking and having our hands on others or things,
are considered a disruption and irresponsible and
will result in one classroom step
While you are in the 6th grade you will walk with
one foot in the green and single file anytime you
are not in the 6th grade hallway
How do we end class?




Class is over when I dismiss the class
The bell does not end class
Until I dismiss class, remain seated and do not
talk unless you have permission to talk.
As you leave, throw away any trash. Do not leave
trash on your desk, around your desk, on
someone else’s desk. Paper items will be placed
in the recycle bin.
Where can I sharpen my pencil?



Before class, you can sharpen your pencil
at the student table.
The table is located as you enter the door
on your left.
It would be a good idea to have two pencils
ready incase one breaks
What if I forget my pencil?


You will receive a classroom step.
Just do not forget your pencil. After all, you
are in school and a pencil and paper are
essential items. If you do not bring your
supplies to class, then you are unprepared.
When you are unprepared, I will not be
happy
What if I get more than one
classroom step?

If you receive two classroom steps in one
class period you may be sent to ALP.
How do I earn my grade?



The six weeks grade is broken up into 3
parts.
65% of your grade will come from a
combination of homework, quizzes, and
class participation.
35% of your grade comes from Test Scores.
How do I pass in work?




Classroom work will be passed in, in the following
way:
Pass your work, face down, to the person to your
left.
The last person in the row will pass the work
forward. The person in seat one will give me the
work.
This can and will be done in a quick, organized,
calm, and quit way.
How do turn in assignments?


If I ask you to hand in assignments, such as tests,
you must turn them face down and stack them
neatly wherever I tell you to turn them in.
We will focus on doing things in a neat and
orderly way in this class. This will make you a
better person.
What about TCAPS



TCAPS are important
But they are not the main reason you are in this
class
We are in this class to help make us better people
This School Year:
We Will Have A
Great Year!
