World War II Info
• World War II took place
from 1939-1945
• The Second Sino-Japanese
War and the German
invasion of Poland split
almost all the world into two
opposing military factions.
• The two factions were the
Allied and Axis Powers

• The major Allied powers
were The United States,
Canada, The Soviet Union,
and the United Kingdom.
• The major Axis powers were
Germany, Italy, and Japan.
• World War II was the largest
in all history.
• Over 100 million military
personnel were mobilized for
this conflict.
• World War II took the lives
of 60 million people, many
of them were civilians.
• This makes World War II the
most deadly conflict in the
human era.
• It also was the most
expensive war yet running
up a cost of 1 trillion dollars.
The Pacific Theatre
• On December 7, 1941 the
Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in
Hawaii, this launched the U.S.
into World War II.
• The turning point in the Pacific
theatre was the naval battle of
Midway.
• This battle decided which force
had control of the Central Pacific
Ocean.
• The battle was won by the United
States and shifted the tide of war
in their favor.

keep news positive
and keep views of the
war positive as well.

movies to display and
spread propaganda.

very popular and helped to

Minister and main leader of

an artist, a writer, an officer in the
army, and a leader.

Japanese Army and was the 40th
Prime Minister of Japan. He was
executed in 1948 for war crimes.
