ACADEMIC PLANNING
FOR SEVENTH GRADE

Seventh graders take four core subjects:
 English
 Life Science
 American Studies
 Math
 Math 7
 Math 7 Intensified
 Intensified Algebra I


Seventh graders have two elective periods.
Seventh graders may begin their study of a
foreign language by selecting from Arabic,
Chinese, French, Latin or Spanish.
 Arabic and Chinese may be offered via
distance learning if enrollment is not sufficient
to staff at school.
 Language classes meet daily all year and
earn high school credit.
 Arabic and Chinese do not meet the language
requirement for the International
Baccalaureate Program at Washington-Lee.

Seventh graders exploratory courses meet daily
for a quarter and include:
 Art
 Theatre Arts
 Family and Consumer Science
 Technical Education
 Digital Input Technologies
 Chorus
Students choosing two periods of exploratory
courses will repeat two during the year.
Graduation Requirements
Beginning with the class of
2014
High School Courses for Credit



Students may begin earning high school credits
in 7th grade
Foreign Language, Math beginning with Algebra
I, and World Geography earn high school credit
You will have the option at the end of each year
to not take the credit AND the grade so that it
will not be included in the GPA

Technical Diploma Requirements


Standard Technical Diploma
One credit must be in foreign language or fine arts.
Four credits must be in Career and Technical
Education with a concentration in a career. If the
career concentration has a State approved
assessment then the assessment must be taken to
receive credit.
Advanced Technical Diploma
Foreign language credits must be 3 of one or 2 of 2
languages. If 2 of each is chosen then an additional
fine arts or CTE credit must be earned. The 3
required elective choices must be CTE courses.
