Objectives of the partnership

- Working cooperatively on
marketing initiatives such as
trade fair participation
Successes so far….
• PECTA established 2008
- now has 14 members
• ZTB established in 2009
- now has 16 Members
• Undertake joint marketing initiatives (such as government
and private sector participation at ITB, WTM and
production of a Tourism Guides on Tajikistan)
• Exchange experiences, challenges and solutions through
regular meetings of the partners
Work in progress…
• Establishing a Destination Marketing Board
for Tajikistan as a public/private partnership
• To be chaired by the Vice-Minister for
Tourism, with representation from Regional
Tourism Associations and any National
sectoral tourism Associations
• To undertake joint marketing initiatives to
promote Tajikistan as a destination to
international markets
• First meeting in June 2010 with the founding
members
Other initiatives…
Cross-border tourism initiatives
• media trips to cover Tajikistan and Wakhan region
of Afghanistan;
• including development of tours and promotions that
covers Pamirs region of Tajikistan and Wakhan
region of Afghanistan;
• building of bridges across the river which forms the
border, to connect Tajikistan with Afghanistan at
strategic points making visitor flows and crossborder travel more accessible.
Future plans…
• Strengthening of the Destination Marketing Board –
Tourism Tajikistan;
• Branding of National Tourism (Website, logo,
slogan, destination promotion);
• Tourism education and capacity building programs;
• Tourism infrastructure development;
• Partnership with UNWTO.
