 Sneferu ruled in the 4th dynasty and was the first king
in the dynasty.
 Sneferu was the first pharaoh to build a true pyramid
 The Red Pyramid, the Bent Pyramids, and the pyramid
in Meidum
 Meidum-A step pyramid changed into a true pyramid
shape
 Bent Pyramids-The first attempt at a smooth pyramid
 Red Pyramid-The final version
 It was done on purpose
 The angle was too steep to continue the building
 It began to collapse
 It was too heavy
 To lessen the workload
 To complete it more quickly
 No cracks marred the foundation of the pyramid itself
 The inner care of the rocks was more carefully fit
together
 Military campaigns against the Nubians and Libyans
 Began trade with Mediterranean nations
 To supply Egypt with cedar wood they needed to build

 Khufu traded with Syria in the north and Nubia to the
south
