minerals?
• Each group will be given a box of minerals.
• Rules:
1. You may hold, manipulate each mineral.
BUT BE CAREFUL. MANY ARE
BREAKABLE OR BRITTLE.
2. When done with each, put it back in the
right place before getting another one.
3. Whisper if you need to talk.
What are rocks?
Rocks are made of minerals. Some
rocks are made of just one, while
others are made of many.
Granite is a rock that is
made of three minerals.
Let’s do the activity!
1. Imagine your bag is one kind of mineral. It
can also be a rock. Say: This is a mineral
because it is one kind and pure, and has
never been alive.
2. Think again that the ___ is another kind of
mineral. If you put this mineral in your bag,
the bag and that mineral become a rock. A
rock is made of two or more minerals…
