The First Course
• A source is a place where a river begins.
• Its usually from a mountain or a spring.
How?
•Water comes down from mountains
because the snow melts.
•Sometimes a stream is formed by a
spring the ground absorbs the water and
it gets to impermeable rock and comes
back up.
The River is
Formed
All the streams that come
down from the mountain or
a spring can form a river.
The Middle Course
When all the streams come
together and the water
gets very fast and you can
sometimes find a rapid or a
waterfall. A rapid is fast
moving water and a
waterfall is fast moving
water that goes down a
slope.
Erosion
When rocks sweep on the bottom
and sides of the river and makes it
deeper and wider which is called
erosion.
We did an
experiment to show
erosion.
End of River Course
I did a movie to show the end course.
Meanders
The river starts to swirl and twirl and this is
called meanders some times the meanders
split and the splits are called oxbow lakes.
The Sea
Every river leads to the sea like the Nile (a
river in Egypt). The Nile is the biggest river
in the world without it Egypt would be
nothing. The delta is where the river leads
to the sea, the delta is called delta because
of its shape.
